La quinta sessione del dialogo algerino-americano
La quinta sessione del dialogo algerino-americano sulle questioni di sicurezza e la lotta contro il terrorismo si è tenuta giovedì ad Algeri, sotto la copresidenza del Ministro degli Affari Esteri Abdelkader Messahel e del viceministro degli Stati Uniti John Sullivan.
Parlando alla riunione, Messahel ha confirmato che la sessione si svolge in un contesto regionale caratterizzato da “sfide significative” che rappresentano minacce alla pace e alla sicurezza regionali e internazionali, citando la radicalizzazione, l’estremismo violento e il terrorismo.
“Avremo anche l’opportunità durante questa quinta sessione del nostro dialogo di rivedere la recente evoluzione delle situazioni di conflitto in particolare, in Libia, in Mali, nel Sahel e nella regione, con l’obiettivo di unire i nostri sforzi per promuovere soluzioni pacifiche in conformità del diritto internazionale e nel rispetto della sovranità, dell’indipendenza, dell’integrità territoriale e dell’unità di questi paesi, insistendo sulla non ingerenza nei loro affari interni “, ha detto.
Da parte sua, il funzionario statunitense ha affermato che questo incontro è un’opportunità per affrontare le diverse sfide che i due paesi devono affrontare, compresa quella della lotta contro il terrorismo, aggiungendo che la componente di sicurezza è uno degli assi importanti della cooperazione bilaterale.
“Gli Stati Uniti sono orgogliosi di collaborare con l’Algeria nell’affrontare la minaccia del terrorismo e si rallegra della sua volontà di condividere la sua esperienza nella lotta contro il flagello del terrorismo con altri paesi”, ha affermato. Ha detto che il suo paese è stato anche grato all’Algeria “per la sua leadership nel ripristinare la pace e la sicurezza nella regione, in particolare in Libia e Mali, e per i suoi sforzi al Global Forum to Combat Terrorismo (GCTF) “.
Inoltre, Sullivan ha osservato che la cooperazione algerino-americana non si limita alla sicurezza, esprimendo, in questo contesto, il desiderio del suo paese di estendere la cooperazione economica con l’Algeria ad altri settori attraverso, tra l’altro, l’intensificazione degli investimenti e delle relazioni commerciali tra i due paesi.

Dopo la cerimonia di apertura, il Ministro Messahel ha presentato al vice Minsitro Sullivan una copia del trattato di amicizia franco-americano firmato tra i due paesi nel 1795.
